A practical decision, with assumptions you can inspect

Household Net Worth · Monthly Snapshots

Record assets, debts and a dated manual FX basis. Save monthly snapshots and separate new saving from changes in valuations.

How to use, check and interpret this tool ↓

Inputs begin with a fictional teaching example. Replace them with your figures; nothing is saved automatically.

1. Set the assumptions

Assets

Row 1
Row 2
Row 3

Liabilities

Row 1

Rates are manual snapshot rates, not refreshed quotes. Same-currency rows must use FX1. All saved months in one book use one base currency.

Do not enter both an account total and its individual holdings, or home equity plus the full home and mortgage. These cause double counting.

Saving a snapshot does not read DividenNote, cashflow, bank or EPF accounts. Accessible assets are separate from net worth and are not all guaranteed cash.

2. Keep a local record

Saving is explicit and shared by EN/ZH pages on this site origin only. It does not sync devices or alter any other Numbrite book. JSON backups are unencrypted.

How this calculation works

Use gross assets and outstanding debts

Each row converts original amount × manual FX to base currency, rounded to cents; total assets minus total liabilities is net worth. Retirement and property valuations remain assets even when inaccessible. Accessible asset total does not subtract debts and is labelled separately.

Compare dated snapshots

Use Save to add up to 120 unique months, or confirm replacement of an existing month. Calculation compares the latest saved earlier month with the same base currency. Skipped months mean the comparison covers the whole interval, not a single month.

A residual is not a return

Change in net worth minus signed net external saving is a reconciliation residual, not CAGR/XIRR. It can reflect prices, FX, valuation revisions, costs or missing records. Transfers between included assets and principal repayments funded from an included account stay inside the scope; do not treat them as new household income.

Use the result with confidence

Check an input before recording it

Begin with the labelled fictional example or replace the fields. Calculate to see the complete result and any shortfall. Editing an input hides the previous result until you calculate again. Saving records the inputs, not a bank transaction or an approval.

Keep the right local book

This tool can hold up to 120 saved records. Choose a record and press Load before editing it. Net-worth records use unique months and one base currency. A backup from another tool is rejected; restoration previews and confirms replacement of this book only.

Keep evidence you can understand

The calculated CSV contains the displayed model schedules, not a broker statement, tax filing or bank balance. JSON contains saved inputs and can hold private names and amounts. Store exports privately; clearing browser data or moving to another origin/device does not transfer records.
